Tennessee Real Estate License Reciprocity
How to transfer your real estate license from another state to Tennessee .
What is real estate license reciprocity? One may obtain a real estate license by reciprocity or mutual recognition if the person has a current license in another state. It basically means you would transfer your license without having to take some or all of the state’s pre-licensing requirements. Requirements for an of-state-real estate license vary by state.
Does Tennessee have real estate reciprocity with other states?
Techincally no. But Tennessee has a similar process of mutual recognition. Tennesse allows one licensed in another state to take a 30 hour Tennesse real estate course and only the state portion of the Tennesse real estate estate exam if certain requirements are met. Eligibility is determined by the Tennesse Real Estate Commission (TREC) on an individual basis after submitting an “Evaluation Worksheet”.
Tennessee has two basic types of real estate license holders. An affiliate broker is basically the entry level license where one must work under the supervision of a broker. It is similar to a real estate agent or sales agent in many states. A broker is the next level and must have experience to upgrade
