Washington Real Estate License Reciprocity
How to transfer your real estate license from another state to Washington.
What is real estate license reciprocity? One may obtain a real estate license by reciprocity or mutual recognition if the person has a current license in another state. It basically means you would transfer your license without having to take some or all of the state’s pre-licensing requirements. Requirements for an of-state-real estate license vary by state.
Does Washington have real estate reciprocity with other states?
Yes. Washington has out-of-state real estate license reciprocity. If you are actively licensed in another state in good standing within the preceding 6 months, you may take only the real estate exam. You will not need pre-license education. You will need to first get approval from the Washington State to take the exam by submitting your application.
Requirements to get a real estate license by reciprocity in Washington:
- You have a current, active real estate license in another state.
- You took the required pre-license work and passed the real estate exam (national and state portions) in the other state.
- You provide a certificate of license history from equivelent state for at least one year.
- You pass the Washington real estate exam.
