How to transfer your real estate license from another state to Mississipi . 

What is real estate license reciprocity?   One may obtain a real estate license by reciprocity or mutual recognition if the person has a current license in another state.  It basically means you would transfer your license without having to take some or all of the state’s pre-licensing requirements.  Requirements for an of-state-real estate license vary by state.

Does Mississippi  have real estate reciprocity with other states?  

Yes.  Alabama rules are very specific.  Mississippi 

If you have an active real estate license in another state, you may be able to use your education and avoid the exam in Mississippi. This is possible if the state that issued your license has approved your real estate courses and there is a reciprocal agreement between the two states

Requirements to get a real estate license by reciprocity in Alabama:

  • You have a current real estate license, active or inactive, in another state. 
  • The state where your are licensed has similar requirements to obtain a license as Missippi.
  • You provide a certificate of licensure (full license history) obtained within 120 days of issuance of your Alabama license.
  • To apply for your reciprocal license, you’ll need to complete the Supplement to Application for Reciprocal License. If you’re a Mississippi resident, you’ll use the form for residents, and if you’re not a resident, you’ll use the form for non-residents. You’ll also need to include a Certification of Licensure from each state where you’ve held a real estate license.
