Idaho Real Estate License Reciprocity
How to transfer your real estate license from another state to Idaho .
What is real estate license reciprocity? One may obtain a real estate license by reciprocity or mutual recognition if the person has a current license in another state. It basically means you would transfer your license without having to take some or all of the state’s pre-licensing requirements. Requirements for an of-state-real estate license vary by state.
Does Idaho have real estate reciprocity with other states?
Technically, Idaho does not have reciprocity with other states. However, persons with an out-of-state license may be eligible to take only the Idaho state portion of the real estate exam without taking a pre-license course or the National portion of the exam. Idaho accepts an out of state licence by “waiver”. The license must be current and active in another state.
Requirements to get a real estate license by reciprocity in Idaho:
- You have a current and active real estate license, in another state. .
- You provide an orginial certificate of licensure that you request from your original state to be sent to you prior to scheduling to take the Idaho state portion of the exam. It should be sent directly to you.
- Fill out the Exam Waiver Request. Register for a candidate ID through Pearson VUE (the testing agency) and note the ID on your waiver request form.
- Mail or email the Exam Waiver Request form to the Idaho Real Estate Commission as it states on the form.
- After approval, take the Idaho portoin of the real estate exam.
- Use an exam prep course to prepare for the exam.
- Standard background check fingerprinting as noted on the Pearson VUE website.
- After passing the exam, fill out the License Application on the Online Services Page. Note: You will need to create an Online Profile to view and file the application. The link for that it at the top of that page.
