Real Estate License Courses – Online

Step 1.  Complete an approved 60 hour Alabama salesperson pre-license course.
Step 2.  Pass the official Alabama real estate license exam covering national and state topics.
Step 3.  Complete a license application  with an Alabama broker or brokerage company.

Yes.  A 60 hour online course can be taken at your own pace. So you can start anytime and login or out anytime.  An online course exam will be required after completing the online portion of the course.

The Alabama license application cost is $210 for an active real estate license.  There is also a cost for the fingerprinting, part of the criminal background check.  The cost for the required prelicense course varies widely,  depending on whether  it is a classroom course or an Alabama approved online course.  

*  U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or legally present in the U.S.
*  At least 19 years old
*  Residency in any state in the U.S..
*  High school graduation or the equivalent.
*  Not convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.
*  Not had a real estate application or license rejected or revoked in any state within the past two years.

Yes.  It is still possible to get a license.  You must disclose a criminal record when applying for your license.  The Real Estate Commission makes a decision based on the circumstances.  You could be disqualified for any felony or if you have a misdemeanor involving  “moral turpitude” such as shoplifting, stealing, etc.  But the commission will only make the decision after you complete an online prelicense course and apply for your license.

No.  But you do need to have proof of residency in the United States.  And you need to be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or legally present in the U.S

You need to be at least 19 years old to get a real estate license in Alabama.  You can still take a real estate course and take the real estate exam if you are 18 or younger, but you will need to be at least 19 when you apply for your license with an Alabama broker.

Alabama has real estate license exam centers in Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile and Dothan.  The exam is sponsored by the Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC).  You must have first completed the 60 hour pre-license course before sitting for the exam.
